Balchik Harbour in Bulgaria to Receive Investment Boost

A Black Sea yacht port will be tendered for a 35-year concession.

Balchik' municipal council decided Wednesday to launch a project for modernisation and enlargement of the port to be used by yachts, cruise and beach-long sailings, water sports, tourism and entertainment.

The concessionaire is to invest BGN 1 M for the first ten years of concession, including BGN 100,000 in two years. The concessionaire is obliged to dispose of tourist facilities in the region and have returns of at least BGN 3 M.

The town of Balchik is a firm favourite with UK investors and the enhancement of the port into a major leisure facility will boost the towns economy further. Added to this the new developments in the locality and the golf course just north of Balchik means the area will become a premiere tourist attraction.
