Stoikite Ski Resort - Bulgaria

New off Plan Apartments Stoikite

Stoikite is among the first few ski centres in the Rodopi Mountain . This is the birthplace of many skiers who have marked this sport and brought fame to Bulgaria worldwide.
There is a ski club called “Veteran” whose members are from the old school. Together with the new skiers they perpetuate the tradition. The climate is soft and favorable to winter sports. There is snow about 5 months each year and many sunny days, too.

Those who like skiing will feel good in Stoikite. Nature predisposes to full recreation and we are sure that the nice time that we offer to have together will remain in your hearts forever.

There are two ski runs in Stoikite . The smaller one is in the middle of the village. It is easily accessible, wide, low-grade and appropriate for the training of beginners. It is equipped with a small ski-tow for the younger winter sports fans.

The other run is better for advanced skiers and snowboarders. It is bigger, 2000 m long and also good for intermediate level skiers.

Folklore and Culture
Beyond the typical features of the Bulgarian folklore, the folklore of the Rodopi Mountain has its original characteristics, which distinguish it from the other regions. The mountain, the hard times, the assiduousness and the devotion to the family are the main motifs and motion forces in the crafts, the music, the clothing, the festivities, the architecture and the life of the mountaineers. Each year in the beginning of August in the village of Gela is held a bagpiper's competition with the participation of bagpipers from the whole region.

The song festival “ Rozhen pee ” (“Rozhen sings”) is held at the foot of Mount Rozhen.

There is an interesting folklore fest in Shiroka Laka called “ Pesponedelnik ” .

Also in Shiroka Laka is the NSFA (National School of Folklore Art), which is one of the landmarks of the region.

The most typical and widely used folkloric instrument in the Rodopi Mountain is the so-called “kaba gaida” (soft bagpipe). It has a very delicate, warm and luscious tone.
There are many villages like Shiroka Laka, Gela, Stoikite, Chokmanovo, etc with more than 25 bagpipers.

The local ring-dances (horo) are grave and slow and so are the songs. “Bela sam, bela, yunache” has become the anthem of the Rodopi Mountain. The famous Bulgarian song “Izlel e Delyu haidutin” performed by Stefka Sabotinova, which was sent to the outer space also comes from this region.
